Product grouping
Sell the same product through several providers? Group them into one logical product so it shows as a single revenue line.
The problem
When you sell the same offering on more than one provider — say a "Pro plan" on both Stripe and Polar — each provider knows only about its own product. Without grouping, your revenue-by-product breakdown would show two separate lines for what is really one product.
Logical products
A logical product is a group you create that links one or more provider products together. Once linked, Metricneed treats them as a single product everywhere it breaks revenue down by product — the dashboard, the revenue page and the per-product comparison chart.
How to group products
- Open the Products page in the app.
- Create a logical product (give it the name you want to see in your metrics).
- Link the matching provider products from each provider into it.
Provider products you haven't grouped are listed separately and still appear on their own in breakdowns. You can regroup at any time — grouping only affects how revenue is displayed, never the underlying data.
How it affects your metrics
- Revenue by product rolls grouped products into one line.
- The per-product comparison chart treats a group as a single curve.
- Totals like MRR and net revenue are unchanged — grouping reorganizes the breakdown, it doesn't add or remove revenue.
For how the per-product numbers themselves are computed, see Metric definitions.
